Who am I

Well then, who am I? I am a 18 years old male who likes sporting and computers. I have played basketball for 4 years and usually play a couple of hours a week. From time to time I also play badminton and other sports. I always liked sporting, even if I’m not so very skilled at them. I play for the fun of it. Another reason I feel that one improves one's studies and work by sporting.
I have been interested in computers since I was 8 years old. In the beginning it was mostly games, but today I work on my computer too. During the last few years I have gained experience in most areas of computers. Lately I have also begun to use the Internet. I think it is a good source of information if one knows where to look.
During the rest of my time I watch movies and read a lot of books. I go to the cinema a few times a year. Other movies that don’t need the cinema athmosphere I rent on video or see on tv. Then it is very rarely action movies. I prefer calmer movies. I also like old classic movies, like Casablanca and Gone with the wind.
One of my great passions is reading. My goal is to have read all the wellknown classics before I got 25. Today I believe I have reach the halfway. But all the time I discover that there are more books I should read, luckily, so that I will have something to read when I have read all the great classics. Lately I have discovered English books and now I try to read English books in their original language. I think that some of the atmosphere in a book is lost in a translation. Most books I read are part of a series. Consequently I read quite a few epics. A few of my favourite authors are Isaac Asimov, David Eddings and Jane Austen. They are quite different from in each other in what they write. But what I like in all their works are their care for details.
I myself are something of a perfectionist when I put my mind into something. Mostly it all results in taking on a to big job and at the same time working to much with the details. In most cases I have to shorten the extent of the job when the dead line comes closer. But the work I have completed is always thoroughly done.
I have always held a burning interest for new things and the future. Space exploration and colonisation are subjects I have chosen to do school projects about.
Therefore you can easily understand that my favourite subjects at school are the technical subjects. I like the logic that exists in mathematics for example. Everything in that subject follows a law, not like in languages where there are more exception then there are rules. Physics is also fun. One learns why everything works as they do.
A less futuristic subject that has caught my interest is the Roman empire and the Greeks. That age have imprest me since I first heard about it. From there my interest have evolved into an interest in modern history.
I have studied at the technical ABB Industrial High School (College by English standards). We worked a lot in projects and it was organized with a personal computer. Yes, we all had our own computer at school. At to add to that we have our free lunch in a restaurant every day. But of course it was some requirements before you was excepted to this school. A few years ago the minimum grade to get approved was 4.1 of a maximum 5.0. The requirements has increased by time.
I also had some official positions in the school. I was a supplementary member of the student council after declining to a permenant membership. The reason was that I was the president of the IT council of the school and I felt that time wouldn't allow me to perform both duties properly.

New projects I have are to learn Linux and Java. I believe that both will be of a great importance in the near future.
