The Fabulous Fifties
1955
Chevrolet build a new car back in 1955 ! This was the first year Chevrolet got V-8 as standard ! Corvette got V-8 for some years ! The cars came in two or fourdoor or coupe , convertible or Stationswagon !
Engines was six cylinder 235 ci in 2 diffrent engines , with 123/136. Then we got the new V-8 265 ci with 162/170/180 SAE . The Gearbox was automat , manuell with overdrive ! The Overdrive was new in 1955 ! An Option was Air Condition . A new thing was Hotchkiss driveshaft and a new suspension ! All this make the car much more easy and fun to drive !
General Motors Produced 1.703.93 Chevrolet in 1955 ! There was a lot of versions and a lot of options ! Bel Air with 4 door was produced in 345.372 units . 8.386 units was produced of Bel Air Nomad , A Brand new Chevrolet 1955 was 1.600 - 2.300 dollar !
1956
In 1956 Chevrolet tried to sell so many as in 1955 ! General Motors present a little lower and wider chassie in Chevrolet 1956 ! The design on The Fenders was new !
The car was almost the same with a lot of cosmetics changes ! The early models name 150,210 and Bel Air ! Stronger Engines came , in 1955 was the strongest engine 180 SAE ! In the 1956 years models was the engines on 225 in 265 ci , and that engine could you got in 162/170/205 and 225 SAE ! This was the beginning of the Musclecar Power-cars !
The six cylinder Engine was not forgotten ! Many people like that engine ! 1956 they present six cyl. engines on 140 SAE ! They Produced 1.563.729 Chevrolet 1965 . Best sell in 1956 was De Luxe 210 ! A 1956 Chevrolet was 1.700 - 2.600 dollar ! Design people in GM think that 1956 Chevrolet looks to " kind " !
1957
In 1957 designers was make an Chevrolet a little bit aggressiv ! With big fins at back ! And now could people got more Engines models than ever before ! Chrysler and Ford got many Engines , so GM was do the same !
The Chassie was the same as in 1955 . But the car look great with a new front with lots of chrome ! In 1957 they present 14" wheels !Chevrolet make stronger engines ! Chrysler and Ford present stronger Engines ! So Chevrolet made in 1957 a fuel injected V8 Engine , with 283 SAE !
The Six Cylinder Engine was still a strong selling product ! The six Cylinder Engines got 140 SAE ! The 283 Engine was in 185/245/250/270 and 283 HP ! This Engine was an Engine for many years in many models ! GM Produced 1.499.644 Units ! The prize was 1.800 - 2.700 dollars ! But you could got 56 Options !!
1958
Chevrolet Introduced the 1958 Chevrolet by dealers took place 1957 in October. The Cars drives and looks very Good ! The Coil Spring Suspension was new as , antidrive braking , High-Level ventilaion and Foot operated parking brakes were new for 1958 . The 283 Cu.in .
V8 TH-350 drivetrain is smooth and very strong. The Impalas trim features included Impala script : insignia and Crossed Flags emblems at the Front of the stylized cove on the back fender .Large air scoops (dummies) were in Chrome and ahead of the reat wheelwells. A Look inside a standard rear radio speaker grille with Impala script andmedallion between the rear seatback dip, and triple taillamp !
The Impala Sport Coupe also had a chrome-edged, rear-facing dummy air scoop and curved contour crease molded into the back of the roof. Chevrolet produced 125,480 Bel Air Impala coupes and 55,989 convertibles in model-year 1958. Engine options were a 235-cubic-inch six-cylinder, a 283 V-8, or a new 348 V-8.
1959
In 1959 Chevrolet was Introducing a Great Model . The Styling was wanted by public . The car was long and wide spinners Chrome and Fins ! This model was the creation of famous G.M Chief Designer Harley J. Earl !
The last car creation before he retire ! This became a Classic Chevrolet ! This Impala was 2 inches longer then before models. The Impala could be equipped witha 348 ci.in V:8 engine with 335 horsepower at 5800 rpm. This Engine was in NASCAR and raced at Daytona .
The "Batwing
" was born . And in many models there was both two- and four
doors versions. The Impala got new suspension , a much more
luxury line , and was popular ! Impala 1959 was produced in
nearly 473.000 units. Today they got a Big Collector
