The Ziadulla International Foundation for Culture (ZSHIFC)was organised in February,
1992 by the Z. Shahidi Museum of Musical Culture, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry
of Education, the Academy of Science, National University and the Kayra-Kum Carpet
Factory.
At that time, when Tajik society had split into two contradictory ideological fronts
which threatened to annihilate the values created by the previous generation, there
was a distinct need for a foundation of this kind. The Foundation aimed to overcome
in the country's cultural life the conflicts which had been hidden in Soviet times, but
opened up in the post-Soviet period, causing a re-evaluation of original values in
society.
A conference at the time worked out a programme of rehabilitation and development
of the earlier intellectual interaction and cooperation which had existed with the
aim of using it as an ideological instrument in the transition period. A process
of consolidation in the creative part of sociaty was begun and ãthe Foundation's work forms
part of that process. Its transformation into sustainable development will be a task
for society as a whole.
The Foundation's priority areas are: Education, Art and Interrigional Development.
