~   CeeL WinEncoder   ~

Version 1.2 released on the 3rd of July 1997
- a long time ago it may seem, but it is still useful

Because it's kinda tricky to use L3enc I've made the CeeL WinEncoder which is a 32 bit Windows 95/NT program where you just click and select the files you want to encode. It supports long filenames (but not long directory names). You can select many files at a time. After you have selected the files - just click Encode and the program will send the command to L3enc. If you have many files on the list L3enc will encode them all - one after the other. The program requires the Visual Basic 4.0 32 Bit runtimes. If you don't have them you can download them here. Put them in your Windows\System or WinNT\System32 directory.

The CeeL WinEncoder is freeware so feel free giving it to everybody you know

Features:

  • The bitrate and other switches are set in Windows
  • Possibility to add many songs at a time (They are encoded one after another)
  • Long File Name support on files (Not on directories though)
  • This program, L3enc and the source and target file can all be in different directories
  • The program will "remember" your settings in bitrate etc. and put them up the next time you start the program
  • ID3 Tag support. Write the tag before encoding and it will be automatically added to the mp3 when it is encoded
  • A separate ID3 tagger is included to modify the tags or to add tags to already encoded files
  • Click here to see a screenshot

Download the 1.2 version right here and send me an email if you find any bugs.

CeeL WinEncoder - The three exe files and the readme.txt file in a zip file

The VB 4.0 32 bit runtimes - These are required to run the program.

L3enc - This is the DOS program which does the actual encoding. Required

    Version history:

1.2   Added the ID3 tag support. The zip file now includes 3 exe files - the main program, the ID3 Tagger and the autotag.exe which is the program doing the ID3 tagging after the files are encoded. During the encoding some files are in the same dir as the program, those is for the autotag.exe so it should know which files to add tags to :) I also added the color settings opportunity. Maybe not very useful, but fun :)

1.1   Now the program will remember your settings in bitrate and switches and write them in a file named "ceelwenc.ini" which will appear in the same directory as the program. I also made the window center on the screen, good for those with 640 by 480 resolution. Made it possible to doubleclick on the wav file to encode. Improved the "first time screen" which appears when you run the program without having the l3loc.sys in the same directory. And then fixed a bug when the program should warn you if a file exists. A really embarrassing one :(

1.0   The first non-beta version. Some minor bug fixes.

0.91   Some bug fixes. Bugs which were caused by the new features in 0.9

0.9   Made it possible to drag over many files when selecting the source files. This because you (at least I and people I know) often have all the files to encode in the same directory and want all the mp3s to be created in the same directory. But the mp3 directory can be a different one from the wav dir. Fixed the bug when the program should warn you about if a file exists. Now it should work properly.

0.72   Fixed the "View Readme.txt" bug (i hope) and made so the l3enc path window will appear at the startup of the program if you haven't set the path. A warning message appears if the target mp3 file already exist.

0.7   This is the first official release of this program, added long filename support. The program will now write you last wav-path in a file called "lastwav.sys" Interface changed a little bit

0.45   The First version which i thought was working quite well

All versions with a version number below 1 are betas
