World War 2, Allied

Churchill
Churchill Churchill
Two Churchill's from Hasegawa. The Mk.II is straight out of the box and the Mk.I got scratchbuild wading equipment and homemade decals for a Dieppe Raid Churchill.

A34 Comet
Comet Comet
A34 Comet from Matchbox. No messing around with conversions her. Just a quick build, straight out of the box.

GAZ 67
GAZ-67 GAZ-67
The GAZ-67 from Fort. I think it is offered under a couple of other lables as well. This is a a kit that I built without conversions. I added the base from a Matchbox kit and some figures from Esci. Please give us a Jeep from the same company!

GAZ-67 "Jeep" & ZIS-44 Ambulance
Soviet Soviet
The GAZ-67 is the Fort kit. It is a real beauty. Perhaps not the easiest to build but I didn't use much filler though.
The GAZ-44 ambulance started as a AER GAZ-5 lorry kit. I then scratch built a ambulancebody. Since this was a wood body I used the wartime production truck that also used wood. I experimented with my printer in this conversion and draw the ambulancebody in the computor so that I could write out the tempates on plastic card. I woul then only have to inscribe the planking following the lines printed on the card. It was not a full success. When I tried to print on a 0,75mm card the color ribbon broke, same thing on a 0,5mm card. It worked with a 0.25mm card but then I had to laminate this to a thicker card.

ZIS Fueltrucks
Fueltransport Fueltransport
A couple fueltrucks from AER. The 2 axle one is a ZIS-5BZ and the 3 axle is a BZ-35.
For some reason I like fuel trucks. I have the RAF set from Airfix waiting, and I must try to find Hasegawa´s Japanese fueltruck as well. Then I would need an American fuel truck and then....

ZIS 5 Armoured truck
ZIS5 ZIS5
This is a homebrew. After building the 3 axle BZ-35 and a Zis-44 with wartime fenders I had enough leftovers to start thinking.
I couldnt let all that go to waste, could I?
I had a rear axle with springs, an engine, frontfenders and a complete cargobay.
Wheels from a 1/87 scale truck had the right size so what should I build?
I had seen a armoured "Gun portee" built on a GAZ truck in 1/35 scale and wanted something similar.
I built the chassie frame of plastic strips and the armoured cabin of plasticcard. I added a machinegun from a Esci T-34
ZIS5
ZIS5
While Germany and Soviet still were "friends" the German 37mm AT gun was produced in Soviet and developed into a 45mm gun.
I took the same path and built the 45mm AT gun from a German 37mm gun. The new barrel is from an Airfix Sdkfz 234/4 and I made new rims for the wheels.

ZIS6 in the winter
ZIS6 ZIS6
An AER ZIS-6 truck with a snowplough from an old Roco 1/87 model. I used cat litter, different sizes of ballast and micro balloons for the snow.

BT-5

(5 pictures in 800X600)
Soviet This is a BT-5 from Uni Model (UM). It was a very nice kit to build. The biggest problem was the etched engine screen that was to small. I solved that by adding a couple of plastic strips. An odd feature on this tank was that it was able to run without it's tracks. This was to good to be missed. It makes a different setting for a tank, so I left the tracks off. It makes tankbuilding much easier.

T-34/76
Soviet
This is a T-34/76 from Esci painted as a Moscow defender. I rather like this wintercamo that I found on a color profile in a book. I havn't seen a photo of it so perhaps it isn't accurate. No I havn't made decals this time. I handpainted the numbers.

Berlin T-34/85

(1 pictures in 800X600)
Soviet Revell's T-34 with extra "armour" added. It is a set from Part. I just used the frames and used a nylon mesh that I thought looked better. This time I hand painted the markings as I wanted it to look handpainted.
I always end up one track link short when I'm building the Revell T-34. So I have to add a piece of plastic strip to the tracks. I placed it under the roadwheel where it is most hidden.

SU122

(2 pictures in 800X600)
Soviet I built this just because I liked the winter camo. The red circle is an air recognition mark from the Leningrad front and not a Japanese vehichle. I built the PST kit without any modifications.

Jeep

(5 pictures in 800X600)
jeep This is a Jeep from Academy's Ground vehichle set. To be honest it isn't very good. The front grill is wrong and the wheels look odd so it don't really look like a Jeep.
I tried to improve the kit somewhay by using the wheels from the Kübelwagen and alter the top of the grill. Then I removed the rear seat and added some details. The result .....?

Brasilian M8 Armoured car in Italy

(3 pictures in 800X600)
M8 This is the Italeri M8. It looks like they have been planning for a M20 as well as the interior of the hull is for that type. The kit seems to aim mostly to gamers as it is somewhat simplified. There were no interior in the turret so I had to scratch something that could pass for one since it is an open top with a rater large hole so it looked naked without anything in there exept the gun. I marked it as an Brasilian vehichle in Italy during the WW2.

CCKW

(5 pictures in 800X600)
CCKW A couple of CCKW's from Airfix. When Airfix released their GMC truck I bought one since I had seen a photo of one with double mounted front wheels in deep mud. Then I was told that the Airfix truck was of the wrong type for my plans. The kit was the CCKW353 that has the long wheel base and what I wanted to build was the short wheel base CCKW352. The 352 has two spare wheels on top of the fuel tank behind the cab, and it is those wheels that could be mounted at the front.
So I cut down the chassis and the cargo bay and mad new sides for it. Than I scratched the fuel tank and spare wheel holders. One big problem with the kit is the front wheels. They should have six spokes just like the rear wheels but the just have five. I solved this by modifying some rear wheels. The howitzer came from the Revell Skycrane helicopter. What i need now is some figures and perhaps a little snow in the grass.
When I built it I felt that I wanted the longer truck as well so I built one almost out of the box. I had to fix the front wheels of course and adde some cargo as well.

Somua S35

(3 pictures in 800X600)
somua Time for some Frech armour at last. Lets start with the Heller kit of the Somua S35
I built it without modifications exept a new colorscheme and new decals, as I liked this one better. I think that I did some carvings on some hatches as they were a bit fuzzy

Renault UE

(4 pictures in 800X600)
ue Lets continue with the French. This is a small Resin kit of the Renault UE from NRC. (Yes I do build resin kits sometime but I don't like the material)

Sherman II

(5 pictures in 800X600)
Sherman Well Sherman isn't one of my favourites but when I saw a pink model I knew I had to build one.
Of course I didn't find a kit of the Sherman II so I had do convert the Esci M4A1. The boogies came from a Hasegawa M3 Lee, the wheels from the Revell Sherman and the turret plus some parts came from the Hät M4 kit.

Ford AA

(2 pictures in 800X600)
Ford GAZ AA from Fort in disguise as a Ford. Since the GAZ AA is a copy of the Ford Truck I decided to use this when I needed a truck for the Free French Forces.

DUKW

(3 pictures in 800X600)
DUKW Two models built out of the box. The multi coloured is the new Italeri kit painted as a USMC vehichle from Iwo Jima. The other one is the old Airfix offering.

Cromwell

(2 pictures in 800X600)
Cromwell The Revell Cromwell kit. I bought one to build a recovery vehichle as I had no interest to build the Tank. But when I built the Centaur I wanted a Cromwell as well, but I still havent built the ARV version.

Centaur

(2 pictures in 800X600)
Centaur The Revell Cromwell kit with a conversion set from MR model. I can't say that I was to impressed with it. The wheels were oval so I could only use three of them and I had to drill the tyres on the Revell wheels for the rest. I wanted to build one that was used by the Royal Marines during the Normandy invasion. I scratch built the ammosled hanging behind and used the very nice decals from Bison.
