
Founded 1889 as Wimbledon Old Centrals, an
old boys' side of the Central School playing on
Wimbledon Common. Member of the Southern
Suburban League, the name was changed to
Wimbledon in 1905. Moved to Plough Lane in
1912. Athenian League member for two
seasons before joining the Isthmian League in
1921. FA Amateur Cup winners 1963 and
seven times Isthmian League champions.
Turned professional in 1965, joining the
Southern League, of which they were
champions three times before being elected to
Football League Division Four in 1977. Started
ground sharing at Selhurst Park in 1991 and
founder member of the Premier League 1992.
