A little history of:
ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB

Formed as
Dial Square, a workshop in Woolwich Arsenal with a sundial over the entrance,
in October 1886. Two former Nottingham Forest players, Fred Beardsley and
Morris Bates was amongst the first players in the team, and Beardsley wrote
to his old club seeking help and they provided the club with a full set
of red jersyes and a ball. Soon after the formation they changed
their name to Royal Arsenal, the 'Royal' possibly from a local public house
and later the same year turned professional and became Woolwich Arsenal
in 1891. Selected for an expanded Football League Division
Two in 1893, the first southern team to join. Moved from the Manor Ground,
Plumstead, south-east London, to Highbury, north London, in 1913, changing
name again at the same time. Elected from fifth in DivisionTwo to the expanded
First Division for the 1919-20 season and never relegated.
Premier
League founder members 1992.
