This is a VR object of the same spehere you can so on the left. It can be rotated, swiveled and viewed from any direction.

Download NOTE: File is 5.1MB in size and compressed with Stuffit. You need Stuffit Expander to decompress the file. Plans for the future includes making a better rendering of the model and to compress the file further to decrease downloading time.

The spheres holds the secret of the extremely smooth, "floating" ride that is so characteristic for the Citroën CX.

It simply comprises a synthetic membrane which holds the nitrogen gas separated from the fluid and holds it in. The hudraulic fluid acts as a link transfering the force from the roadwheel to the compressed gas.

When manufactured the spheres are filled with nitrogen gas. The pressure is between 40 and 75 bars depending on sphere type.

With time and use the pressure drops. Normally the sphere need replacing every 5 to 10 years. This is very individual though.
