Why do we celebrate Christmas?

Christmas is celebrated in the memory of the birth of Jesus Christ. He was born on December 25th in the year 0. (Read more about it in the Christmas Gospel). At least that's what the believed at some time in the 3rd century, but they were a little mistaken. With the better methods that we have today, we have come to the conclusion that Jesus was born in the year 7. That means that the most common chronology in the world is a bit wrong. But it would be a disaster to change it now.

Today Christmas is, for most kids, the day of the year they like the best (together with their birthday), because that's when they get so many presents. And of course it's great for a parent to see joy shine in the eyes of their children. But for (most) grown-up people, Christmas is also something else. It's the day of the year when you should spend time with your dear ones and have fun together, it is a Christmas feeling that can't be described. You can sit quiet for an hour just watching candles burn, and simply... enjoy.
