The Northern Side of Sweden views and discussion on the exploitation, oppression and prejudice that Northern Swedes have suffered from through millennia.
This site presents the history and lyrics (with chords) of the Northern Swedish folk music
band Euskefeurat. Euskefeurat is a thing so weird as a folk band that folk listen to.
Spicy songs in the beautiful dialect that is spoken in the Piteå rivervale
(almost unintelligible for Central Swedes, wherefore a small dictionary has been included in the page).
These songs deal with the lives and thoughts of the people in their province. Their lyrics are genuinely
and rebelliously socialistic, with a perspective focused on the ordinary people.
My name is Björn Wahlin.
I grew up in Umeå which is the largest town in Northern Sweden.
I now work in Southern Sweden. As many people, I am very interested in music
(even though I lack the gift myself).
I have a broad spectre of taste in this art,
the common denominator is good lyrics, I guess. Examples from traditional music are: Euskefeurat,
The Dubliners
and The Pentangle.
One must not forget old favourites like Iron Maiden,
Black Sabbath,
Rush and
Budgie.
The best Swedish poet ever was a man named Dan Andersson,
and the best interpretation of him was made by Thorstein Bergman.

I took a couple of Black Sabbath pictures when they played at the Danish Roskilde Festival 1998, that the photoshop couldn’t develop, but they’re right here (text in Swedish, though).
