Joseph Juran
One of Shewarts students, Dr. Edwards Deming, focused on the issue of quality in products and services and made a popular model for quality improvements, the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle. Dr. Joseph Juran, author of “Managerial Breakthroughs”, had a profound impact on the Japanese quality revolution in the mid-sixties. He emphasised involvement of top management and worker empowerment through learning. Dr. Juran was the first to incorporate human aspects of quality management. The development of the quality paradigm is much the result of work done by Dr. Deming and Dr. Juran.
