MM - The best resort you visited?
TH - Mt Baker was good. Lots of snow.
MM - Best trip?
TH - To Jackson Hole. With Bryan and
Sebu.
MM - Any hotel you like to mention?
TH - Mm, the one in Ischgl - Elisabeth. At
breakfast they had a separate omelet buffet.
Champagne too…
MM - Competition?
TH - The best pipe was in Japan.
MM - Is that's what makes a good
competition?
TH - Uh-hu.
MM - Anything real boring happened last
year?
TH - We went to Alaina Lodge in Alaska
and it was all ice.
MM - How long were you did you stay?
TH - A week.
MM - Shit happens huh? Switching
subjects - Some rumors have it you've tried
to prove the weakness of the judging system
during the past winter, riding real well but
still not winning because you didn't do
enough spins…
TH - Well, nothing's working. A lot of
people get ripped off.
MM - What changes should be made?
TH - The whole format. We should do
heats, I believe. Also there's a lot of waste
of time - pre-qualifications, ladies etc.
MM - OK. So we're in Riksgränsen now
- how's your stay been?
TH - It's been really good this year.
MM - Where have you've riding today?
TH - On "The Roof".(Steep terrain accessed by helicopter only.)
MM - Shooting for the movie you're making? Actually, could you tell the whole story about the project? I've heard so
many rumors about it, I have no clue what's going on myself.
TH - We've been to Japan, Switzerland, Jackson, Riksgränsen…
MM - …, but isn't it going to be a movie about you?
TH - Uh-hu, it's going to be a profile movie about me. But Johan, Sebu, Bryan and some others will be in it as well.
Twenty to thirty minutes of snowboarding. Shot by Seone (Dave) mostly. It's a Volcom film, so Vecco Productions are
editing it and so. Gonna be a lot of pipe in it since we've had some bad luck with snow conditions.
MM - I'm sure it will be pretty decent
anyway. (smirk) Any more projects like this one in the future?
TH - Don't know. I never want another deadline, that's for sure.
MM - Where's snowboarding heading
in the future? Where are we going? Will
people specialize themselves away from
the fun?
TH - There are not too that many riders
that can do it all today. Most are riding
just one thing already.
MM - Who can do it all, in your
opinion?
TH - Noah (Salasnek), Peter (Line),
Johan (Olofsson), Jim (Rippey)… Out of
the ones I've seen.
MM - Who are up and coming?
TH - There just new names in the pipe -
Fins. But that's isn't really much either
since they are all doing the same moves:
A frontside 360 and a 720. There are a
lot of old and ugly moves hanging
around, but that's probably because of
the format of the competitions.
MM - Who aren't following those
tracks? Who's pushing it?
TH - Daniel (Frank), Ingemar
(Backman) and Brushie.
MM - Gonna compete a lot yourself
next year?
TH - I don't know. Perhaps go to the
five biggest events…
MM - Any plans for the summer?
TH - Go to Hood maybe. Good pipes,
but lots of other things as well.
MM - Spend some time at home, in
Norway?
TH - I planned to this winter, but there
wasn't very much snow. Maybe next
year.
MM - Heard you're going skiing tonight.
Correct?
TH - Yeah, see you up there.
The End.
