BLOOD review

The plot

In this horrormovie based game, you play the role of Caleb, a merciless gunfighter born in Texas in 1847. When he was 24 years old he met Ophelia. A member of the dreaded Cult of Tchernobog. She was Calebs doorway into the cult and it didn't take long before Caleb and Ophelia was elected into the Chosen, the elite servants of the dreaming God Tchernobog the devovrer of souls. But when they face Tchernobog he claims that they have failed him and then he destroys every one of the four remaining Chosen. Caleb awakens in a cold and damp grave in a body he no longer knows. He has long lain as a corpse that refused to rot, protected from putrefaction by some unearthly link to his master. The pain of protesting muscle and flesh invogorates and awakens him. He welcomes it. It distills his hate into the maelstrom raging in the centre of his mind.
He opens the tomb and cries out:
-I live AGAIN!
And then starts his quest for vengence on the dreaming God who once were his master.

My opinion

This may not be the most advanced 3D-shoot 'em up on the market but I haven't yet seen a game which comes close to the creepy feeling you get when you stalk around in the haunted house filled to the top with Zombies, Butchers, Fanatics, Spiders and sawed off hands like the one in Evil Dead II. It is obvious that the guys who made the game really likes horror movies. But the game doesn't only contain horror and great game play, it also includes a great portion of humor and a lot of gore (and belive me, I mean a LOT!). Caleb is really twisted in an insane and violent way and the arsenal he uses are really cruel, like the pitchfork, the spraycan and the Voodoo doll to name a few. Another thing that is great with the game is that it isn't like in many of the other 3D-games that one weapon kills all. Here you have to use almost every single one of them to defeat the many enemies you will encounter on your way towards a gore-filled vengence.
I have to (and want to) give this game 4+ skulls of 5 possible.

Boner.
