Our first long trip directed to the north of Sweden, actually to Lapland - the
land of the midnight sun - to Ankis summerhome of her
childhood. Vi started our trip from Boden, which is a town in Norrbotten, in the morning the 15 of July. The sun
was shining and we felt warmth in the air, simply a lovely summerday. When You
drive a bike You must take warm cloths on and it was warm alright. We had
several stops on our way and we had a standstill in a place called Jokkfall
which lays near the polcircle. In the restaurant we took a necessary meal. We
drove on and on till we came to a village called Masugnsbyn (Ankis summerhome of
her childhood). We intended to see some of Ankis relatives and to sleep
over in a cottage of my relatives. There are a lot of mosquitos and ants. Our
meetings with the relatives do not happens so often.
We met Ankis uncle Uno with wife.
We
drove further to a place called Vittangi - a place 100 km from Kiruna - to Ankis aunt Eva and her husband, they
were not at home so we have to go to see them an another time.
We took an icecream in the eveningsun. Then we drove to the cemetery of Vittangi
to see some of Ankis dead realitives.
After this we drove back to Masugnsbyn, to a place called Palovaara to see Ankis
relatives. They became very glad for our visit and we took a cup of coffee and so
on at my aunt Hilmas place. We (Ankis aunt and cousin Barbro with her kids, they
live in Greece but the where in Masugnsbyn some weeks this summer) have a very nice chat about all kinds of
things from our childhood.
Then we drove to the cottage to sleep. We tried to get asleep after the long
trip and so we did. We woke up on sundaymorning and it was raining but we
have to get away though it was raining, we have to get back to our home in
Boden, ca 300 km south from Masugnsbyn.
After a little meal in the cottage we started the trip home. It was raining and
raining and we came to a thunderstorm near a place called Saittarova, You can
call it a heavy thundery rain. It was not so glorious to drive in this kind of
rain. Again we had a standstill in Jokkfall. The weather was a little bit
better. After a while we drove on and again in to a large thundery rain. It was
so large that I had a little bit of pray to God in my silence. I kept my gloves
to my face and naturally I thought about the driver and how he felt of all
this raining. I was sitting back of him and so I always do when we are on the
road. I have not a drivinglicense of a bike. Okey we drove on and I thought
about our home which we soon would come to and so it went. Our leathers
became very wet. It was very hard to get them dry.
Greetings from Anki and LG
