Antarctic Press: So, Fred, I herd you want to do a Robotech story based on Souhern Cross...
Fred: I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to work on Robotech. The story is called "Rolling Thunder" and it takes place after episode 60 "Catastrophe" in the Robotech series. (The last episode of the Robotech: Masters) Things are beginning to settle down across the war-torn world after the defeat of the Robotech Masters. But not all of the threat perished. One of the younger Robotech Masters survived when Zor destroyed the invasion ship: Khane. He knows that the Invid will soon arrive to claim the earth and the protoculture that has spread all over it, and with the remains of the bioroid forces he intends to eliminate the protoculture from the earth - even if it means the destruction of al life on it. In Khane's path of destruction is a mature, battle-hardened Dana Sterling and the 15th Squadron.
AP: Uh-huh...So you wan't be doing Gold Digger?
Fred: I'll never stop doing Gold Digger. I'll just have to work a little harder to do both - it's not easy but it's fun.
AP: Well, tell us a bit about Gold Digger...
Fred: Gold Digger is about the adventures of a treasure-hunting archaeologist named Gina Diggers. She's been to all sorts of fantastic places and adventures with her sister and partner Brittany Diggers (Brittany is were-cheetah who was adopted by Gina's father when she was an infant. Brit was orphaned during a secret war between the were-cheetah clan and the werewolf clan) Gold Diggers is far from ordinary run-of-the-mill comic. It's fun! Fun to read and fun to write. I guarantee that anyone who picks it up and reads it will be hooked!
AP: That's really cool. The back issues are available?
Fred: Many people are snatching up the back issues, so they're really hard to find. Even I don't have a complete set anymore... (My brother does, though.) Anyway, I decided to make the old stories available by producing graphic novels. I fell it's the best way to catch up on what's happened in the older issues. And, as a bonus, in many of the graphic novels I include an extra story about Gina and Brittany when they were 5 years old and 4 years old respectively. I highly recommend getting these books.
AP: You're planning another "Gold Digger month" for early next year. Anything new coming up for that?
Fred: Oh, yes! The first Gold Digger color book will be published. It will be an outstanding starting spot for new readers. I can't wait to see how it looks.
AP: You have your hands full! I don't suppose there are any projects on the near horizon?
Fred: Well, let's see now... I do have one story that's dying to be told... "Legacy." Long ago, in the age of magic and mysticism, a malevolent force arrived on the earth. When it landed, its disembodied spirit began taking over the minds and souls of the people. It was claiming all of mankind, until the six most powerful heroes banded together to stop it. They succeeded, but the spirit was not destroyed. It knew it couldn't defeat the heroes, so it moved to the center of the earth to wait and plan the day when it would arise again. The spirit knew that the heroes would not live forever, and the next generation of heroes may not be as strong or as wise. The heroes were aware of this too, but the wisest among them, a cleric, knew of a way to send thier strength, wisdom and power to the generations to come. Those generations would then have he power to fight the spirit when its evil resurfaced. And so began a long stuggle that continues to this day, when a young high-school student named Mark discovers his pat of the Legacy. Cool. huh?
