Antiphons
(Antiphona)
O Heléna, abounding in mercy: you have been given full joy. O Helena,
abounding in mercy: you are nowadays seated in pleasure. O Helena, abounding in
mercy: your poor people is praising you. See to, Helena, abounding in mercy,
that the punishment, that we are in for, is neglected. O Helena, abounding in
mercy: lead us unto the clarity and peacefulness at the Highest Authority's.
Capitulum (Eccli. XXVI, alias Book of Syrach)
Responsorium
Resp.:After having fulfilled the hour of Suffering successfully, Helena
is counted worthy of experiencing joy on the Throne in Heaven eternally. The
ointment is yielding a sweet scent. Vers: The borderlands are endowed with her
clear tokens. The ointment is yielding a sweet scent.
Hymn - (Ympnus)
Happy Westgothian clan, clap your hands for joy. Multiply the honour of
your offspring holy Masses withal, and through singing anthems for her sake.
Helena our martyr has today cast the heftiness of her body off. From the prison
of the world she climbed up to the great hall in Heaven where the holy ones are
gathering.
Her sun-up was brilliant, and she was born by noble parents. She gained
for the sake of her Family exquisite diplomas all the way from her teens to her
dying. The nuptial bonds were succeeded by her wholly dedicating herself to God.
Her worship was formed into shows (here meaning: "wonders"); tokens
were flashing forth thanks to the exémplar of hers.
We, who the earth has generated, are asking Thee God, Creator of
everything, that we are to be led to the joy in Heaven by the prayers of Elena.
Amen.
Versus (Ps 45:3)
"You're surpassing everyone as to beaty; you're expressing yourself
with taste. One can clearly see, that God has blessed you eternally".
Antiphon before Magnificat
(Super Magnificat ant.)
O decoration of our Fatherland and pleasant martyr of God
- HAIL! You have been given
from Heaven to the elevation of Westgothia. You're nowadays evaluated worthy of
having your dwelling before the eyes of the King of Honour. Please be a
mild-minded Lawyer to Sweden.
Magnificat (Luk.1:46-55)
COLLECT (Collectam)
God, richest of all as to mercy, we're asking Thee, through the
intercession of Thy béatífic martyr Helena, for a generous indulgence as to
all our sins -
that Thou would like to forgive such for those, who are honouring her
Yearly Solemnity, according to her esteemed prayers for the same from within the
Heights of Heaven. Through our Lord.
At the Morning Service
AD MATUTINUM
Invitatorium
The Anniversary of the virginal mother Helena is due; the People's
Assembly (here: "the Church") is triumphing!
Psalmus 95
"Come, let's raise eulogy to our Lord, jubilation to our rock of
rescue..."
Hymn: Happy Westgothian clan... (see above)
To the First Night Service
IN I NOCTURNO
Ant.: When the winter of disbelief had gone, a Rose, beautiful as a
Venus-statue, appeared in this country.
Psalmi de una virgine
("Psalms of a virgin"; a number of Psaltar-strophes to choose
between
are presented in this Liturgical Text)
The grace of a new star -
of a new clarity -
is dawning in Westgothia. Tokens are shown before our eyes. Whenas Faith
had become famous within the borders of our Fatherland, an utterly pleasant star
began shining without ceasing.
Vers. (Ps 45:3
"You're surpassing everyone..."see above)
First Lesson
(Lectio prima)
When the winter of disbelief had gone, and the downpour of persecution
had left here and had withdrawn to the background, flowers were coming out in
our country. Among these, beatific Helena stepped forward like a nice-scented
Lavender, fragrant by the fame of good deeds and by the fire of divine Love.
During the childhood years of Faith, she was ascended here like a sheeny and
early star on the front line, being a brilliant exemplar glittering tokens
withal, whereof some few have gotten suppressed because of neglect, entombed in
silence by the scion of Ingratitude: Oblivion (added: "that by scribbling
are supposed not to have been written down servilely"). So as to no longer
allow the bushel of silence to keep the truth hidden of the hallowed actions of
which Helena was the exemplar, we want to, in humble writing, mention parts of
her famous Living, glorious Death and brave Forebodement superficially
- all given by divine and
clear Mercy -
in order to encourage the spirits of the attendants to praise God.
Generated by esteemed parents, Helena learned the Law and Justice of God
- like once upon a time
Susanna did. And whenas she'd reached marriageable age, she was delivered, buxom
and healthy, to a man in alignment to the customs of our country, whom she
agreed to accepting to take on -
out of fear for God -
like Sarah, the wife of Toby. God brought together inside her to be
fruitful like Lea and to be decent and beautiful like a Venus-statue like
Rachel, so that the qualities of her body was an image of those of her mind. She
was automatically loved by the eyes of everybody, like Esther once had been,
autonomously decorated by a noble character, honouring her ancestry.
Resp.: Rejoice, you faithful assembly of the Devoted! Westgothians
- cut capers anew! Wheel of
the world -
praise the martyrdom of Helena! Vers.: All over the world her clear
wonders are met with; Wheel of the world -
praise the martyrdom of Helena!
Second Lesson
(Lectio secunda)
After her husband eventually (or more accurately: "at last")
had died, her age and assets were urging for another marriage. She chose to
rather get united by a spiritual marriage with God, (added: "which begins
with sorrow and arrives at eternal amusement"), than bowing down under a
carnal marriage, which always begins with amusement and which sorrowfully
reaches unto the end. Thus freed from the nuptial bonds, she featured Judith on
the troublesome threshing-floor of widowhood, inasmuch as she, like Judith, did
serve our Lord fasts and speech withal. The entrance of her Mansion was, like
that of mr Job's, open wide for wanderers, and by means of the wool of the sheep
the paupers were kept warm.
Furthermore she loved decorating the House of God, and she housed such a
great zeal for His Fane that -
as far as a large portion of Skodhwe Church was concerned
- she herself financed the
building of it, where now her body is resting holily.
Sanely (added: "and") inside the Rural Estate, which is (or:
"was") called Gothene, she saw in a dream a presage of the future of
this constitution: It seemed to her, apropos the local church there, that it, at
the same time as she was appearing inside it, flew to Skodhwe yonder. The divine
disclosure of the dream revealed that this was how she was meant to interpret
the dream: : As how she was going to die at Gothene but was still going to get
buried at Skodhwe - thereafter the
outcome was going to become a proof of this being true.
Moreover, when the Portico was under erection, which is in between the
Tower and the Church at Skodhwe (porticus illa que est inter turrim et ecclesiam),
some ones were asking, to what purpose the intérstice was created; Helena
answered: "God is prone to giving us (or "you") something holy,
the body and remainder of which in a suitable way can be put together here"
(Dabit vobis/nobis Deus aliquem sanctum, cujus corpus et reliquie poterunt hic
decenter collocari/hic poterunt decenter collocari). As to about whom she was
speaking like if about someone else, this ought to be carefully considered,
since, after her Suffering, her venerable body was entombed in the very same
place. As one can provably recognize herein, she, along with Delbora and Olda,
did own the clear Spirit of Prophecy.
Resp.: The holy life of Helena is reminding of Judith's, and her
beautiful Venus-face is not dissimilar to Esther's. She is humble in word and
deed, aflame with charity. Vers.: She is a lamp, shining far and wide about the
tracts of the country. She is humble in word and deed, aflame with charity.
Third Lesson
(Lectio tertia)
But the Antique Enemy considered that the Oratories (more accurately:
"Oracular Positions") of the Saints were erected, whilst the houses
and temples of the demigods were overthrown and the copses of idolatry were
chopped down, wherein recently the insane horde of the unfaithful had been
offering in an ungodly and unrecommended way, and jealously he saw Helena
supporting this and the worship of God. Because of that the Lamp in God's House
(domo Dei) was shining that very clearly, the Antique Enemy woke up the
malicious hand by dint of which Helena was going to be doused. Thus this
happened: A certain nobleman, who tied himself with beatific Helena's daughter
in marriage, started hating her beyond limit, often tormenting her verbally and
with violence. The servants of the Estate were, on their own accord, filled with
dismay, because of the disaster that their mistress was unjustly and horribly
being subjected to -
they lurked for their master in an ambush and they stabbed him to death.
The relatives of the stabbed one regarded this as pointless and let off the
servants from the hand of the female revenger, and they accused God's
Serving-maid for having let the ambush happen, and that she herself, as its
engineer, bore it in her bad conscience through having spoken in a bloodthirsty
way. //"Thereafter those relatives were made her relentless enemies, and
she had to endure the multitude and maliciousness of their thrashing" (added
by Brev.Scar.)//.
But Helena, along with the majority of those, who already are evaluated
as perfect by human beings, had in the eyes of the Highest Artist still some
imperfection, as truely as us, we inexperienced beings, are regarding a not yet
finished sculpture, praising it as if 'twas already finished. And therefore the
artist scrutinizes it, polishing it (or: "drawing it with a plumbline").
He already hears the praising, and still keeps hammering melioratingly,
ceaselessly. Because of this, our Lord made his Serving-maid perfect by dint of
hammering persecution (or: "by dint of thrashing persecution and pressure").
Subsequently, namely, there followed a daily growth of her love to her Founder,
and she aspired the joy and peace of the heavenly Fatherland.
Resp.: Freed from the bonds of carnal marriage, her body was immaculate
as contagion regards, and she replaced the yoke almost cloistrally, Vers.:
requesting the pious life of pious widows. She replaced the carnal yoke for a
cloistral living.
To the second Night Service
IN SECUNDO NOCTURNO
Ant.: Helena was given from above, and she was brave on the battlefield
like Judith-the-widow, the conqueress of Holofernes. She served the servants of
God's Fane eagerly. Daily she feeded and dressed the paupers. This manifested
evidently the merits of this pious mother, whenas she administrated indeed the
Spirit of Prophecy -
like Olda.
Fourth Lesson
(Lectio quarta)
Since it forsooth is safer to run against a bear, which is wild because
of its stolen youngs, compared to against a man, who is stubbornly crazy, and so
as to letting the circumstance act out its wrath, God sent a vision into
Helena's mind, that it would be good for her to visit sacred places abroad. She
didn't beware of the labour involved, but inoculated male courage into her
female intention in order to see the Grave of our Lord and the Place of his
Suffering, in the same way that once upon a time the glorious mother of
Constantine, Helena's namesake, betook herself to Jerusalem, entrusting her Case
to Divine Trial. Thus she travelled over this landscape and to many other sites
where sacred remainders were venerated (or: "revered").
Trusting in our Lord and not scared of meeting with anything, she
returned to her Estates. The enemies, stubborn and hardened in their malice,
were hunting the righteous spirit of Helena, and lurked in an ambush for
Innocent Blood. Contrarily she -
the daughter of goodness and peace, and the prentice of guiltlessness
- knowing that patience
bears a perfect accomplishment with it, was good to those who turned against
her, and prayed for those who persecuted and accused her, downright sure of that
her Wreath of Honour was busily twisted in Heaven due to the deed of the
persecutors. But now when it had been lawfully determined (that is by our Lord),
it pleased our Lord (added: "in such a high degree") to quickly rip
his Contestant out of the carnal prison, and to laurel her yet more gloriously,
he granted that she had to die by means of impatient swords and a martyrdom,
which up to that date had been only rarely occurring here. Because on a certain
day, while she, on the behalf of Goodness (or: "in exchange for
Indulgence"), wanted to attend the inauguration of Gotene Church, a certain
one among her antagonists devastatingly cast herself on Helena, wounding her
cruelly in the ambush, sating her sword with righteous blood, and Helena's
Spirit, delivered by the stabbing, fared towards the Heights. She lay fallen
like an innocent sheep on the FIRST OF AUGUST in 1140, and now she'd
transmigrated from the War to the Peace, which overwhelms all consciousness.
Resp.: Jeopardizing her life she lay the dangerous road behind her, and
the journey to the Grave of our Lord did the trick. She lets her Case depend on
His Trial; Vers: doesn't yield before human beings, and comes bravely back to
her Mansion. She lets her Case depend on His Trial.
Fifth Lesson
(Lectio quinta)
And now it was broken, the ("alabastrian") box for balm
- the hallowed body of
Helena - and the ointment of Power smelled nicely. Because after her
death the divine Power didn't cease manifolding the wonders through her merits.
Already on the Day of her Suffering a certain blind man walked down the road
after the sun had laid itself fallen. Meanwhile approaching the Position of her
Suffering, the lad, who was steering the blind man's walk, saw a light (lumen)
nearly like a burning candle (candele ardentis) in a bramble (frutex, Rubus
Fruticosus). Whenas the lad, on the blind man's order, carefully investigated
whence that flashing (fulgor) was emitted, he found in the bramble (dumus) the
finger of beatific Helena, abscinded with that Ring on, which she'd brought
along from the holy land. Whenas the mentioned blind man touched this finger,
and lifted his hand, stained by her blood, to his eyes, the former mist did
dissolve and the light did come back!
Moreover: Whenas her body was transferred, the carriers halted on the
road for Thanksgiving in the appropriate Hour, whereby instantly a new fountain
bubbled up, which up to the present day is called the Source (fons) of beatific
Helena.
Furthermore: Whenas her holy body had been carried to Skodwe and had been
rinsed over the boulder (magnam petram) on the cemetery, the boulder (petra) was
cloven into two parts in such a way, that the part over which blood had dripped
from her wounds raised itself up without effort, whilst the part over which
blood not had dripped indeed remained on the ground. This is evaluated as an
action of God to the honour of the Martyr, so that no longer her blood would be
stepped on by human feet. Hereby the divine Power wanted to implicate, how great
a Faith this woman had had during her life. As to the Faith, it deserves as how
that very wonder was made, of which our Lord testifies in the Gospel, saying:
"If you had Faith like a seed of mustard and said to this mountain <Go
hence> it would go away". Aligned with this, the stone (lapis) kept
standing in that a way there for many a year, and more wonders were made in the
same place, as long as this place was held in due veneration (veneratione
debita).
Resp.: Helena is returning from the holy land. Fráudulency is afire with
hatred, fraudfully reaching out. The innocent one is harmed as a result of pure
malice. Vers.: Nothing can block the way to the spirit, who is aspiring the
heavenly Reign. The innocent one is harmed as a result of pure malice.
Sixth Lesson
(Lectio sexta)
Whenas a certain one, who had been mute since his birth, had been praying
and weeping by the grave of the Martyr perseveringly (added: "for some
time"), he was quickly given the service of speech by God, and the former
silence did set new words free.
Thereto there was a certain deaf one, who had had to stand that much
inconvenience of his deafness, that, unless someone shouted (added:
"powerfully") up his ears, he didn't perceive any sounds. He implored
thus the Martyr, who turned her ears to the clamour of his calls, and she
restored the hearing to his deaf ears.
Moreover a certain leper was conveyed to the grave of the Martyr, where
he persevered for a long time in tears, and, thanks to the merits of Helena, he
was spotlessly mundified. A certain one who kept limping had implored the Martyr
for help -
he enjoyed being able to return to his estates merrily, with stretched
sinews, straightened shins and strengthened feet.
For to cause an Announcer's eulogizing and lauds inspired by God it also
occurred, that a certain weaponless and unguilty stoner ("lathomus")
at the church of beatific Helena, was forced to dodge to enemies with unsheathed
swords. Except for damaging his attire, they were unable to wound him inasmuch
as he implored the Martyr for help. A few traces of the cuts, looking like
scarlet threads, were visible on the skin, as if tip and tail of their swords
had been blunt. As the same enemies realized that they could achieve nothing,
they turned away into different directions from the stoner. Their swords withal
they stabbed to death another one thereafter, who was approaching them.
Consequently they turned around against the mentioned stoner, but were hence
struck by blindness in such a way, that even if they had been in the same house
(domus) they couldn't have seen him, whereby the antique wonder, which Elisha
the Prophet once upon a time prayed for and made, was made once more thanks to
divine compelling.
But behold: Since God so much had judged her holiness worthy of evident
and wondrous tokens, luckily tended by the reminiscence of the archbishop of
Upsala mr Stephanus, Alexander the third considered it reasonable to enrol her
in the Catalogue of Saints. But all the wonders, which up to the present day
have been made thanks to her merit, we're presently unable to tell minutely
about. These here have briefly been written down, that they can be added to the
hallowing process of the Holy ones and to the construction plan of the Faithful,
and to the praising and honour of God alike, who is the only one to make great
wonders: Be there a great Offering and Dominion of Hisn for century after
century and boundless time! Amen.
Resp.: Helena terminated the hour of Suffering successfully, and is
evaluated worthy of enjoying eternal joy on the throne in Heaven. The ointment
is yielding a sweet scent. Vers.: Her clear tokens are bestowed upon the
borderlands. The ointment is yielding a sweet scent.
To the Third Night Service
IN TERTIO NOCTURNO
Ant.: Helena is sober like Anna, the mother of Samuel, and patient like
Sara, the daughter of Raguel. The intelligence of Abygail has revived within
Helena, and she speaks of the future like if she was using the forebodement of
Delbora. She's working for God's Law like Susanna was, and she feels a spiritual
desire like Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, did.
Seventh Lesson
(Lectio septima)
Lectio sancti Evangelii secundum
Matheum Cap.12:46-50
(Lesson on the holy Gospel according to
Matthew, chapter 12:46-50) (see the Bible)
Sermon by pope Saint Gregory
(Homelia beati Gregorii pape)
The lesson from the holy Gospel, which was read to you, dearest brethren,
is short but pregnant with great and ponderable mysteries, because Jesus, our
Founder and Redeemer, disguises before his mother, saying that the one who
exists near him is distinguished, not through carnal relationship, but through
spiritual union: "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? Each and every
doer of my heavenly Father's will is my brother, mother and sister". That
the doers of the will of the Father are called the brother and sister of our
Lord is not extraordinary, since both sexes are summoned by Faith jointly, but
it's highly extraordinary however anyone can be called his mother. Now, the
faithful disciples are evaluated as worthy of being called brothers, inasmuch as
Jesus says: "Go and tell my brothers...". Thus the Faith-producer can
be called the brother of our Lord -
in whatever manner can he be called his mother, may we ask? Well, we are
aware of, that the one who BELIEVES IN CHRIST is his brother and sister, and
that the one who OPENLY DECLARES CHRIST is featuring his mother. It is as though
one is giving birth to our Lord whenas one pours him into the hearts of the
attendants, and his mother is featured, whenas love to our Lord is born in the
spirit of our fellow man thanks to our declaration.
Resp.: Fruits of olives are sqeezed until their sweetness streams out,
and wine is poured out whenas grapes are mashed by trampling. Husks are shaken,
and in that a way the grains can be collected. Vers.: Helena keeps enduring,
until her spirit is replanted in Heaven. In that a way the grains can be
collected.
Eighth Lesson
(Lectio octava)
Consider this woman, dearest brethren; let's consider her, we who
physically for sure are men. In comparison to her, what do we judge? For
oftentimes we are engaged in achieving something good, but if someone makes a
move towards us, guiding the most futile wording to his mouth and making fun of
us, the action we had in mind to do is immediately tampered with, and puzzled we
startle. Think of this: Words are in most cases stopping us from a good work,
but not even torments were indeed able to crush the holy intention that Helena
had. In the air false charges fly straight against us... Helena has arrived at
the King's Throne by means of the steel (of the swords), for she realized, that,
whatever blocks her way, is nix and nought. Us, we don't even want to give our
superfluity away in accordance to the prescriptions of our Master. Helena lifted
up to God not only her private means but delivered also her proper body to him.
Whenas the severe Judge is coming to his terrible Trial (terribile examen
districtus judex venerit), what are we men going to say, as we shall see the
honour of this Woman? What weakness are in this case men going to be able to use
as an excuse, as Helena one day will be exhibited, she who conquered the world
her sex withal (cum seculo sexum vicit).
Resp.: In the Rosary of
Heaven the red rose (or: "collection") is laid down, which our Martyr,
rich in honour, has deserved through the martyrdom. The fact that her power is
equal to her intercession, Vers.: is clearly proven by her healing lazarly
limbs. Her power is equal to her intercession.
Ninth Lesson
(Lectio nona)
Thus follow, dearest brethren, the severe and uneven road of our
Redeemer. It has been used that meritoriously, that it nowadays has become that
even, that it pleases women too to go by it.
All of you: Despise what exists here and now, for it is ugly (sic!) to be
fond of what steadily is under way to perishing. Loving the earthly things
mustn't confine you; haughtiness mustn't bend you inwards; luxury mustn't stain
you; jealousy mustn't consume you. Out of loving us, dearest brethren, our
Redeemer lay down dead for us, and thanks to his loving us we are offered a
conquering of ourselves. If we act perfectly, we're not only evading the coming
punishment, but we are also going to be awarded with honour along with the
martyrs. If there is no persecution going on right now, this peace can become
our martyrdom regardless, and although the carnal neck isn't subdued, we are
able to slaughter our carnal desires mentally regardless, a spiritual sword
withal.
Resp.: Listen, Empress full of mercy, to the prayers of your tribe;
delight yourself among the crowd of joyful on the Site of the Assemblage. Please
be our Commanding Officer in the middle of the crucial moments of the present
life, Vers.: which our complaint uses to disclose with pain. Please be our
Commanding Officer in the middle of the crises of the present life.
Vers.: Pray for us...
Praising at Dawn
LAUDES
Ant.: Anew the Announcer's Laud of the Martyr is approaching, because a
man, swinging the sword that he carried, was unable to cause any harm. In a
miraculous way a light (lux) did flash forth from Heaven into the bramble
(dumus), making it clear where on earth the Finger was resting. The blind man
touched the abscinded Finger of the Martyr, and soon he regained his sight
thanks to her merits. In a miraculous way it was proven, that she was housing
Faith similar to a seed of mustard, and thus this made the stone (lapis) erect
itself. The limping one was granted a perfect gait and the deaf one his hearing
and the blind one his sight - after
devoted supplications at Helena's.
Chapter as above
(Capitulum ut supra)
Hymnus: Do join the famous March of Victory on this Day, to which joy has
been allotted, in so far as the venerable Martyr has ascended up to the Throne
of Honour! She collected impatiently treasures for the Treasury in Heaven as she
forebodingly dispersed her fortune providing the paupers. Fasts, prayers and
labour withal she tamed and disaccustomed her body. She felt a celestial need to
refresh herself through the Highness of God. She made obvious tokens, granting
the deaf one his hearing, mundifing the leper from his contagion, restoring the
blind man's sight.
We, who the earth has generated, are asking Thee God, Creator of
everything, that we may be guided by the prayers of Elena to the joy of Heaven.
Amen.
Vers.(Ps.45:11. "Listen, my daughter...")
Super benedictus ant.: O beatific Empress, who has been evaluated worthy
of being elevated, hear the pious music that we're singing to you over and over.
Rinse away the sins by dint of your prayers, and lead us to the longed-for
boundaries of Heaven.
Blessing -
Benedictus
May God the Almighty bless you, the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
Ad sextam capitulum
(Syr.26:15-16)
Ad nonam capitulum
(Syr.26:18-19*)
(*It is not the 19:th strophe which is included, but: "Eternal bases
on an unyielding rock (petra) and God's Commanding exist in the heart of a holy
woman". The 19:th strophe reads: "My child, keep the holiness of your
young years intact, and don't give your power to the foreign").
To the Second Evensong
IN SECUNDIS VESPERIS
(Ant. de Laudibus -
antiphons from Laudes)
Super Magnificat ant. -
antiphon before the Song of the Virgin Mary
Have a nice time! you Flower of Westgothia, the Lamp of our Fatherland,
and direct us on the road of Righteousness, so that we shall not derail. Guide
us from the Valley of Sorrow up to the World of Light, in order to make sure
that we shall live with You in refreshment for ever. Amen.
Betwixt the Gradual and the Gospel
of the Mass of S:ta Helena's Anniversary
Hallelujah Verse
(Versus alleluiaticus)
Helena, the decoration and patroness of Westgothia, pray today on our
behalf for the Mercy of God.
Sequential Song
(Sequentia)
Let us generate sweet melodies of veneration on this day, on Helena's
Anniversary. After the course of her life she transmigrated, on a happy day,
eagerly to God's Consolation. Like Rebecca, the gentle flower, she commended her
heart, speech and behaviour to Chastity. Absolutely, by way of the way of
muscular men, she repelled, like Judith, the carnal love of matrimony.
At daytime she appears like Martha did, but during the hours of rest she
contemplates like Maria. She does not hug the enemies of God
- neither did Jael, the wife
of Cineus. Her talent of Prophecy is corresponding to that of Deborah's. The
perfume from the broken (alabastrian) box of balm is pouring out a mighty
capability, whereby the wonders are turning visible: The blind man sees, and the
mouth of the mute speaks at her beck and call, and the leper is freed from
spots.
O Lawyer of Swedes, pray that we may experience Mercy, like the woman of
Técoa. Let it happen like it did to Esther, who was elevated, that your people
may become pleasant to God and able to deserve honour. Amen.
