Plane CRASH in Queens, NEW YORK! |
| At 15.17 CET (09.17 EST) Another plane, this time a American Airlines Airbus A-300 went down after probably fire or explosion to one engine. It started from JFK airport in New York and just a minute after takeoff it went down in NYC borough of Queens. The plane was heading for Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic and had 246 passenger and 9 crew members. The crash site are actually two or more separate fire sites. The engine fell off the plane and landed in a backyard within a boat! No report of victims of that house involved. Several buildings at the major crash site are on fire. New York City has stated a Level 1 alert. F-16 patroling the airspace has reported no unusual activities before the event of the crash of Flight 587. All NYC area airports closed (Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark), bridges and tunnels leading into city closed and NYC major Giuliani is on place. In fact, The plane was scheduled to leave at 08.40 EST, but takeoff was delayed until 09.14. Why it was delayed is not clear at this moment. The Empire State Building was evacuated as a security precaution.
