Prepare for a World Mayan Calendar Day, January 5, 1999!

In the Popol-Vuh several creations are described where the gods - before the mouth and face of Sovereign Plumed Serpent - would pray for what had been created:

You corn kernels, you coral seeds you days, you lots, may you succeed, may you be accurate,

According to the Popol-Vuh several creations failed before the present one was begun because the human beings did not keep the days of the gods - the true calendar. And in this creation several groups of Maya, among which are the Quiche who authored this book, has kept the Sacred Calendar count that was used all over ancient Mesoamerica unbroken for about 2500 years. Let us take the opportunity of the first day, 1 Imix, of the next tzolkin round (on the Gregorian day January 5, 1999) to celebrate and acknowledge this people and this calendar, who sometimes under the most difficult conditions has kept it intact to the world of today, as well as synchronizing our calendars with theirs. Maybe the future of this creation depends on its continued use and the understanding of Creation that springs from it.

The beginning of the upcoming tzolkin round is marked by two significant worldly events which closely coincide with it. The first is "the millennium bug" leaving room for many unexpected scenarios and new energies to transcend the current technology already at the Gregorian day January 1, 1999. The second is that the new European currency, the Euro, goes into effect as the banks open January 4, 1999, one day before the new tzolkin round begins. The coincidence of the beginning of the new tzolkin round with these events is hardly an accident. In the Book of Revelation, filled with references to Mayan calendrical numerology, it is described that a woman whose head was crowned with twelve stars was to deliver a child and a great dragon (the Beast) was ready to devour it as it was born. We have yet to see if the materialist Beast will succeed. Much of this may depend on the right use and understanding of calendars.

The coincidence between the beginning of the new tzolkin round and this significant step of global centralization goes back to the fact that this particular day will initiate a period of thirteen tun, the 360 day prophetic years of the Maya, designed to bring about the return of Christ consciousness and the return of Quetzalcoatl which we will see the initial signs of at the Venus Passage on June 8, 2004. Coming into phase with the age old Mayan calendar is also about coming into phase with the returning consciousness of Christ.

We may all have different interpretations as to the significance January 5, 1999. Mine is that the above events are reflections of the beginning of the creation of the Galactic Underworld, or in Christian language, Revelation. What everyone seems to agree about however is in acknowledging that January 5, 1999 is the first day of the tzolkin count that was used all over Mesoamerica up until the Spanish conquest and by many up until now. Hence, we may all unify in honoring the line of day-keepers of the Mayan people that have kept the use of this calendar unbroken over the centuries, something which surely has not always been an easy task. They kept this for a reason that only seems to begin to be revealed for us at this point in time. Let us be inspired by their accuracy and faithfulness to the ancestors and so be ready to take up the thread and keep it unbroken even under conditions that may not always come to be favorable for the truth hidden in the Mayan Calendar. For as all Mayan day-keepers say, the Sacred Calendar, the tzolkin, is the one that links all the other calendars together. If this heart of the calendrical system is broken so will the rest of it.

Let us listen to the Popol-Vuh:

"may you succeed, may you be accurate"
