Dear Floorball Friends,
The time of the East Coast Tournament is drawing nearer and preparations
are going into high gear at the Triangle Floorball Club. Here is a long
promised update on general information you need to have if you want to
participate in what should be a fun and exciting floorball weekend. You
may also find info on
the tournament on the TFC website at www.trifloorball.org.
Best regards.

SIGN UP DEADLINE
The registration deadline for teams and individuals to sign up is Friday,
June 20. The first six teams to sign up are guaranteed a spot in the
tournament. Any teams who want to sign up after the deadline may not
be able to get in because we are dealing with limitations of time as
well as space n which to hold the tournament. If we get more teams signing
up than currently expected we may be able to expand the tournament format
and add a second playing venue. However, this would only be a viable
option if we get 4 or more teams than expected, so, sign up early to
be assured a slot!

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Each team should designate 2 individuals to serve as referees when
the team is not playing. The individuals must be knowledgeable in the
IFF rules of floorball. For health reasons, referees are encouraged
to have their own whistles but we will provide them if needed.
2. Teams must have jerseys with numbers on the back. Numbers on the
front of the jersey in addition to numbers on the back are a plus but
not required. We recognize that numbered jerseys represent a cost to
teams so we are going to accept teams playing in t-shirts that have
been hand numbered using some type
of ink. No jerseys with numbers that are taped on will be accepted!
3. Captains must be identified by armlets.
4. Goalies must wear a face mask and are encouraged to wear other protective
gear used by Floorball goalies such as chest protectors, gloves and
knee/shin pads.
5. Shoes must be athletic/court shoes and have non-marking soles.
6. Each player is urged to have some form of health insurance if needed
in case of injury. Membership in the USFA comes with secondary health
insurance coverage which takes over when an individual's insurance reaches
it's limits. To sign up with the USFA please download a form at www.usafloorball.org.
Individual membership for one year is $50.00 and runs from the sign
up date to March 31 of the following year with the renewal period starting
on January 1.
SOCIAL GATHERING
The tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on August 30 (Saturday)
and finish on Sunday, August 31 in the late afternoon or evening. Currently
we are thinking of having a "social" either on Friday the
29th, in the evening before the tournament or possibly on Sunday night
after the tournament in order to give ourselves a chance to meet, mingle,
talk, make connections and get to
know each other off the court. The night from Saturday to Sunday does
not appear to be a good option for a social gathering since games may
finish late and start early again the next morning. Please indicate
which day would work best for you. More details on this "social"
will be forthcoming once we have teams signed up.
We do have a limited number of spaces with hosts from the Triangle Floorball
Club. These spaces are first come, first served as well as need based.
