ComputerGeeks.com will now take orders and start shipping their Genica Portable MP3/CD Player on May 8, 2000 instead of May 15, 2000. The Genica MP3/CD Player received a five star rating on MP3.com. It looks and operates like an ordinary CD player but has .MP3 file support. Scott Kusel, President of Computergeeks.com, was quoted in saying "Before, when you wanted to listen to .MP3 music on the go, you were limited to the ten songs or so that the flash memory in your portable player would hold. Now you can put ten times that many on a single CD and play it in the car, at the gym, wherever. We see where the road to music's future is headed, and we intend to be on it. The Genica(TM) Portable MP3/CD Player is our first step."

Golin/Harris International Bans Napster

Golin/Harris International, a chicago-based public relations firm, has banned it's employees from using Napster. The company has 13 offices in eight states and three countries. They discovered that 80% of it's internet bandwidth was being occupied by Napster usage. Through e-mail they told all employees that using Napster is no longer allowed. A spokesman for Napster said that the "ban likely had more to do with workers slacking off than with dwindling computer resources."
