YOUTH TEAM
Accrington Stanley were members of the strong Lancashire youth League from 1950 to 1961.
The team was designated the 'A' team, which meant that it was a basically a youth team, but League rules allowed for older players to be included.
Stanley played against the top Lancashire clubs 'A' teams, but when a Second Division was formed in 1955, they opted to play there, against the 'B'
or fourth teams of the top clubs, and against the 'A' teams of the not so senior clubs, e.g. Oldham. Below you will find Stanley's complete record in
the Lancashire League.
Stanley left the League in 1961, when the financial position was getting precarious. The Supplementary Cup competition was played in
a group format, home and away, towards the end of the season. It was always played on a divisional basis as age limits varied between the divisions, which
were run as separate competitions, no promotion and relegation applying. There were occasionally a two-legged final between group winners, but I have no
record of a final in the 56-57 season between Stanley and Manchester U. 'B', winners of Section A. Winners listed below are the winners of Stanley's section,
regardless of results in the final.

| Stanley did take part in the FA Youth Cup on occasion, but never progressed past the First round proper. They were eliminated early in all of their three last seasons as a League club. Results from earlier seasons still missing. |
