PRESIDENTS
Stanley’s first President was Sam Ellison who served on the first committee in 1893. Captain Harwood, who lived at Whalley House, President around the turn of the century, is best known for having given out the medals for best non-reserve team in the Lancashire Combination. Capt.Harwood

VICE-PRESIDENTS
When Sam Pilkington resigned the chairmanship in 1953 he was given the title Vice-President, a post he retained until the club left the League.

CHAIRMEN
There was no Chairman on the first committe in 1893, the committee premier being known as President. Richard Watson was chairman from around 1900 to 1905.
In 1906 former Ow’d Reds and Stanley player Tom Pendergast was the Chairman. He was a member of the first true board, when Stanley was turned into a limited company in 1921. The list of Chairmen since 1920 reads: Edgar Cunliffe

DIRECTORS
The first board in 1921 consisted of George Geoffrey Hargreaves Bolton (Colliery Manager),
Doctor Counsell Dewhurst (Gentleman), Fred Heyes (Company Director), Edgar Cunliffe
(Cotton Manufacturer), Tom Pendergast (Textile Machinist), Charles Smithies (Textile Machinist),
James Brown (Shoemaker) and George Brennand (Foreman Fitter). The board consisted of ten Directors in 1952, eleven in 1953, twelve between 1954 and 1958, nine in 1959 and eight in 1960. Since 1961 the board-members were:

CLUB SECRETARIES
The first Secretary was William Henry Cronshaw who served as a committee member in 1893.
In 1898 John Haworth, nephew of the great ”Jud” Haworth, England international Ow’d Red, became Secretary. He later won fame as Burnleys manager,
whom he joined from Stanley in 1910. When the club closed down for World War One in 1917 his namesake Johnson Haworth was the secretary. The Secretaries after World War One have been: Sam Pilkington
